How to choose a table football table

Room, players, rods, weight, style and budget: a calm, step-by-step way to choose a table football table for your home.

A table football table is not a gadget you put away after a week. It stands in your living room for years, it pulls friends into the room on a Friday night, and it says something about your home. Choosing well comes down to a handful of questions. Answer them in order and the shortlist gets short very quickly.

Where will it stand?

Start with the room, not the catalog. A table needs space for the cabinet, for the rods and for the players standing on both long sides. A typical table with solid rods, such as the Garlando F-200 Maple, needs about 2.5 x 2.5 m at minimum and about 3.1 x 2.5 m to play comfortably. Our guide How much space you need walks you through the calculation for any model.

Check the floor as well. A hard, flat floor keeps the table steady. A thick carpet or an uneven tile makes it rock.

Who will play?

Think about the people around the table, not only about yourself.

  • You and your friends. Adults who play hard want a heavy, steady table and solid rods.
  • Children at home. Telescopic rods never protrude from the cabinet, which protects children. The Garlando G-500 Pure White has them.
  • A serious player in the family. If someone trains for tournaments, an ITSF official table gives the same feel as in competition.

For an office or a bar the same questions apply, with more weight on daily use and durability.

Solid or telescopic rods?

Solid rods pass through the whole cabinet and come out on the other side when you push them. Garlando states that they follow international competition standards, so the game feels the way it does in a club. Telescopic rods slide into themselves and stay inside the cabinet: safer around small children and easier in a tight room, but they play differently. The full comparison is in Solid or telescopic rods.

Weight means stability

Weight is the quiet spec that matters most. A heavier cabinet does not slide or rock when the shots get hard, and the game feels more precise. In our catalog, home tables range from 50 kg for the Garlando F-100 Grey Oak to 120 kg for the Leonhart Yacht.

Leg levelers help too. They let you set a perfectly flat playfield, even when the floor is not perfect.

Does it fit your interior?

For a home this is often the deciding question. A table you enjoy looking at is a table you play more. A few directions:

  • Warm and classic: the maple or grey oak cabinets of the Garlando F-series.
  • Bright and minimal: the all-white G-500 Pure White with chrome handles.
  • A design statement: the Garlando G-2000 Evolution, black cabinet on splayed silver legs.
  • Furniture-grade wood: Leonhart states the Leonhart Yacht is made almost entirely of solid oak by a master carpenter. It is handmade in Bavaria.

Think about where the light falls, too. A ceiling light centred over the playfield makes evening games easier and makes the table look its part in the room.

Set a budget, then see what it buys

Prices in our catalog start at 358,000 AMD for the F-100 Grey Oak and 444,000 AMD for the F-200 Maple. The G-2000 Evolution is 600,000 AMD. Tournament tables cost more because of their build and certification.

For evenings with friends you rarely need a tournament table. If the games in your house get competitive, a step up is worth a conversation with us.

What about ITSF?

ITSF status matters for clubs and tournaments. For a home table it is a bonus, not a requirement. Plenty of good home tables carry no ITSF badge. If you want to know what “official” and “recognized” mean, read ITSF official vs ITSF recognized.

A quick checklist

  • Measure the room and the way in: doors, corridor, lift.
  • Decide on rods: solid for adult play, telescopic for small children.
  • Pick a weight class: heavier means steadier.
  • Choose a cabinet that suits your interior.
  • Set the budget and compare two or three models side by side.

The short way

Not sure yet? Our table finder quiz asks a few questions about your room, your players and your style, and suggests models that fit. If you want to feel a table before you decide, ask us where you can try one: our tables stand in bars, restaurants and offices.
